Statement, contact, and select CV:
Born into an artistic milieu, I’ve been making art my entire life and am fully devoted to my fine art practice. My background lies squarely in Fine Art and direct creative studio research. I move through drawing, painting, and sculpture fluidly and experiment with any method of creation suited to my artistic goals. I aim to bring together personal elements of lived experience, processing of emotive responses (culturally, politically and otherwise) and my understanding of the “nature of being” as components in my work while I explore fundamental compulsions of creative expression. These themes keep me searching for, and bearing witness to the beauty of the human condition; the moments that reveal the complexity of the world around me;These narratives are then shared through a neurodivergent lens.
Social experiments and collaboration have also been part of my oeuvre and I encourage public engagement with my musings and creations when possible. In my ‘artist life’, I’ve also worked as an art model for about 20+ years, therefore much of my work is influenced by the female figure. Nature is also a primary inspiration.
My priorities as an artist are to explore creativity and creative language to their full potential. I further aim to discover how these influence my creative voice within the broader context of contemporary art.
Originating from classical perspectives, some methodologies I employ are heavy emphasis on drawing and working from life and nature, while focusing on both exacting and expressive mark making, material process and experimentation. This highlights my interest in the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi , or the “nature of things”and explore this concept throughout the art making process. Interdisciplinary work is very important to me and I explore how the interplay of different ways of seeing and thinking in unfamiliar media might influence, inspire or improve the work. The fluidly through crossing platforms helps to hone my skills while supporting me in thinking about ideas differently and freely explore possibilities of creative expression. As I examine these concepts,I unearth new modes of creative process and imaginative beauty.
As a working artist I’m a seasoned professional with an extensive teaching and global exhibition history spanning nearly two decades. My work is included in the permanent collections of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, public sculpture parks, and many private collections worldwide. I’ve participated in Museum exhibitions, international symposia and residencies, and have been privileged to share my passion through teaching in public and private higher education, my private studio and community art centers.
Thank you for your visit, for your interest, and support!
